Two bronzed lamps in the Mitologicas model from France, dating to circa 1950–1960, in good used condition with minor signs of wear, in working order, 18 cm wide, 18 cm deep and 42 cm high, featuring a bronze figurine on an octagonal wooden base with a metal frame and hand-cut crystal prisms.
Description from the seller
They are two lamps that condense that refined and somewhat theatrical taste cultivated in European mid-20th-century decoration, when figurative bronze coexisted with polished wooden bases and the vibrant shine of handcrafted crystal. Each one is arranged like a small mythological scene: the cherub, gracefully modeled with a touch of classical naïveté, holds a tiny bird while it rises on a pedestal that seems almost a fragment of an independent sculpture. The bronze, with its warm patina, emphasizes the soft volumes and the serene expression of the figures.
Above them unfolds the luminous structure, with curved arms that recall leaves or vegetal volutes, and a top ring from which hand-cut crystal prisms hang. Those crystals, as they move, multiply the light and contribute that elegant sparkle we associate with the most refined interiors of the era.
The octagonal, well-proportioned wooden base anchors the composition and provides a material contrast that further enhances the metal and crystal. The whole has that balance between mythological fantasy and decorative design that characterizes many mid-century pieces: it does not aim to imitate the past, but reinterpret it with a gentler language, more domestic, designed to accompany daily life with a touch of classic charm.
Tracked shipping and careful packaging.
