Description from the seller
The Hermès travel or desk clock is an heirloom and was purchased in Paris in the 1970s or 1980s.
Brand: Hermès Paris (founded in 1837), one of the world's most renowned luxury brands.
Manufacturing: While Hermès designs the timepiece, the movements for this era were often produced by top Swiss partners such as Jaeger-LeCoultre or other specialized Swiss workshops with whom Hermès cooperated closely throughout the 20th century.
Production period: The design with the "Duc-wagon and horse" logo on the back, the Roman numerals, the "Swiss Made" inscription, and the serial number (177807) indicate production between the 1960s and 1980s.
Model features
Design: This is a so-called "Easel Back" clock. The round metal loop can be unfolded so the clock stands stably on a desk or nightstand. When folded, it lies flat and is ideal for travel.
Case: The high-quality silver-plated case features a striking fluted bezel (coin-edge style), typical of luxurious accessories from this era.
Back: The back bears the magnificent Hermès coat of arms (the well-known logo with a carriage and horse) as well as the large "H" engraved. The small screws suggest that the case can be opened to access the movement or battery.
Material: High-quality silver-plated base metal – probably brass.
Dimensions: Diameter approx. 4.5 cm, height approx. 1.0 cm.
Dial: The minimalist, light-colored dial bears the signature "HERMÈS PARIS" and "SWISS MADE," with Roman numerals and the fine "Railroad minute track" (the small squares around the edge) giving the watch a very classical, timeless look. The red seconds hand is a typical accent for better readability.
Back: The engraving shows the famous Hermès logo (Duc team with horse and wagon) as well as the serial number. The small screws indicate professional opening of the case for battery replacement.
Condition: The watch is in excellent condition for its age. No visible scratches on the case or crystal. For this listing the watch has been opened by a watchmaker, cleaned, and fitted with a new battery.
