Tabwa statue from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, provenance private collection, 25 cm high, 1 cm wide and 1 cm deep, in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
Elegant Tabwa figure from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, characterized by remarkable stylization and striking formal modernity. The elongated body, tapered arms falling along the torso, and straight legs confer to the entire piece a clean, almost minimalist silhouette. The face with half-closed eyes expresses calm and interiority, while the geometric scarifications recall clan identity and Tabwa aesthetic traditions. This sculpture, of great plastic sobriety, already evokes through its taut lines and balance the explorations of 20th-century modern art.
