Art Nouveau bronze table lamp by Charles Ranc with a silvered bronze base designed by Charles Ranc and a glass obus shade signed Schneider, 51 cm high, 20 cm wide, 20 cm deep, weighing 2.6 kg, in orange and cream glass, fitted with two B22 sockets and wired with fabric‑braided cord and a Zeppelin switch, in good used condition with minor aging marks.
Description from the seller
Grand mushroom-shaped lamp by Charles Ranc and Charles Schneider.
The base in silvered bronze was designed and produced by Charles Ranc, a prolific Belle Époque creator who crafted high-quality bronze luminaires in his workshop at 64 rue de la Folie-Méricourt in Paris. This lamp bears the signature usually used by this maker to authenticate his table lamps, namely “C Ranc” (See Photo 9).
The glass pâte de verre shade, in orange and cream tones, comes from the Charles Schneider establishments from which Charles Ranc sourced glassware to equip his lamps. This shade, shell-shaped, is of exceptional size: 21 cm high and 20 cm in diameter. It bears the signature “Schneider” acid-engraved (See photos 11 and 12).
The base and the tulip are in very good condition.
The lamp is fitted with two B22 bayonet sockets connected to a bronze junction block and a Zeppelin switch. It has been rewired with twisted electrical cord and silvered fabric insulation.
N.B. The last photo shows our lamp next to a Hettier & Vincent lamp equipped with a standard-size tulip to give a better sense of the lamp’s scale. Obviously, the Hettier & Vincent lamp is not part of the sale.
