Grundig - WKC3632 Autoradio

The Grundig WKC 3632 is one of the most interesting cassette car radios produced by Grundig for late 1980s and early 1990s cars. Today it is considered a small cult object by vintage hi-fi and classic car enthusiasts thanks to its sober aesthetics, German build quality, and a technical equipment level that was very complete for the period. Manufactured in Portugal, distributed by Grundig Italy in the late 1980s.

Kept intact in its original box with original certificates. Never used and not tested, operation not guaranteed. The surface bears oxidation spots of the metal on all sides, as visible in the photos. Being a vintage cassette car radio, some limitations related to the age of the product may emerge today.

From a technical standpoint, the WKC 3632 offers electronic PLL tuning on FM/MW/LW bands, memory for 18 stations, automatic station search, and an electronic VSA (Voltage Swing Amplifier) noise-suppression system.

Also very convenient is the automatic station search function and the internal memory with 18 presets, ideal for quickly saving favorite stations. The automatic stereo/mono switching further improves reception on weaker signals.

The cassette section offers stereo playback and an autostop/auto-reverse function, which allows listening to both sides without removing the tape. There are also fast forward and rewind, as well as the Track Logic system, designed to facilitate track management during listening.

On the connectivity front, the Grundig WKC 3632 features auto/electronic antenna and supports 2 to 4 speakers, an interesting feature for more complete car setups. The practical integrated Quick-out system is also present, allowing quick removal of the radio from its mount.

From an audio perspective, there is tone balance control and a declared sinusoidal power according to DIN 45324 of 4 x 5 watts, enough to guarantee clean, well-distributed sound in the cabin. The presence of the Loudness Adaption Control system enhances the performance of low and high frequencies at lower volumes, making listening more pleasant.

One of the most appreciated aspects is the typically Grundig design: amber backlight, clean front, and a clip-out “threaded” system that does not protrude, keeping an elegant and integrated look in the dashboard. Many collectors consider it ideal for conservative restorations of 1980s and 1990s cars precisely because it preserves the original aesthetics without sacrificing advanced features. For young-timer and European classic car enthusiasts, it remains a model capable of combining nostalgia, elegance, and practicality.
