Description from the seller

Impressive king-size bedspread in raw silk, satin and cotton from the late 1800s to early 1900s with wide dimensions. After all, old beds had dimensions different from modern ones and mattresses were made to measure, as were the related linens; in fact, its measurements are 226 cm wide by 220 cm long, with a 13 cm fringe added on three sides. On a modern bed with an 80 cm classic mattress it reaches to the floor, dressing the bed in an elegant way and giving it a sober tone without excess.

The dominant color is a light orange, almost mustard, as a background, warm and easily matched to the colors of a house, and across the entire bedspread to give it value are embroidered frames of flowers and hieroglyphs in violet, salmon and gold.

It is all embroidery across the bedspread. A very beautiful color combination.

The photos are more explanatory than words. The fact that it is embroidery and not print is evident from the reverse side.

Splendid straight fringe with a band of passementerie echoing the same colors. It is all embroidery with flowers and hieroglyphs on the head area, in the center a large rosette, at the corners and the bottom part with a series of circles containing a flower.

At the bottom are geometric designs.

A very particular bedspread because it is different from the usual damasks.

It is part of my trousseau collection and this, like many others, is in good condition and I assume little used given the abundance they had. It has no stains and the fringe is in good condition.

A separate note is due to the imposing fringe that echoes the orange color and has a straight band of passementerie, then there is the straight fringe, all 13 cm high. The fringe runs along three sides.

Overall I would say it is a very particular bedspread, different from the usual ones seen on the market. The fabric is splendid. Indeed, those with florals are usually damasks and of smooth silk. Its shade and its rich embroidery across the entire bedspread up to the fringe and on the part that covers the pillows, and its dimensions, attribute its true value.

Even the heavy, substantial fabric fits the bed perfectly, giving it softness and elegance at the same time. An object from another era but always current for those who love the past.

It can also be used as a tablecloth with embroidery on top. When something is beautiful, it always finds a use, even as a sofa cover given its size.

For shipping I use private couriers and not the post office because it arrives sooner and has double packaging and easier communication.

Shipping costs vary depending on whether it is Europe, band 1 or 2 such as United Kingdom, Switzerland, Eastern European countries; band 3 such as Norway, Malta, Cyprus and the rest of the world.

Customs duties will be borne by the purchaser.
