Dick Briel (Leiden, December 28, 1950 – Rijswijk, September 25, 2011) was a Dutch comics artist. He began his career as an illustrator at the Dutch Disney Studio. He became best known for the comic series Professor Palmboom, which he drew in a clear line style. This comic about a curious professor, Julius Palmboom, and his assistant Thomas Dibbet, first appeared in the weekly comic magazine Eppo in 1981. This strip was also translated into French and published by Glénat.[2] For Mickey Maandblad he created the humorous strip Hulbert.
The stories are usually science fiction, about creeping, bloodthirsty plants and rust grenades.
