Description from the seller
A bronze statuette depicting Narcissus (sometimes identified as a young Dionysus) in a contemplative pose, inspired by the famous Hellenistic models discovered during excavations at Pompeii. This piece is distinguished by a 19th-century sand-cast technique. This artisanal technique gives the metal a grainy and vibrant appearance that magnificently catches the light. Its nuanced green patina, called "archaeological", rich in natural concretions, bears witness to ancient oxidation and guarantees the authenticity of this Grand Tour art object. Material: Solid bronze (heavy copper alloy). Technique: Sand-cast with antique patina. Height: 27 cm. Weight: 1,300 kg. Condition: Very good condition of conservation, original patina preserved, sound structure.
