Description from the seller
Foo Dog Incense Burner with the Eight Ashtamangalas
This exceptional incense burner unites two of the most powerful symbols from the Tibetan-Chinese devotional tradition: the protective foo dog (shishi) and the eight auspicious symbols of Buddhism—the Ashtamangala.
The foo dog — also called shishi or lion-dog — has stood as guardian for temples, palaces, and sacred spaces for centuries.
As a pair they symbolize the duality of yin and yang, and they provide protection against negative energies while welcoming happiness and prosperity.
The eight Ashtamangalas embedded in the relief each carry their own meaning:
The parasol (chattra) — protection and royal dignity
The golden fishes (suvarnamatsya) — happiness, fertility and liberation
The vase of wealth (kalasha) — abundance and spiritual wealth
The lotus (padma) — purity and enlightenment
The white conch shell (shankha) — the voice of the Dharma
The endless knot (shrivasta) — the interconnection of all things
The victory banner (dhvaja) — the triumph of the Dharma over ignorance
The Dharma Wheel (dharmachakra) — the path to enlightenment
Weight: 780 grams.
The incense burner is in good used condition with signs of aging. (See photos)
Very finely detailed.
Carefully packed and insured shipping.
This item can be shipped together with other items of mine in this auction so you only pay shipping costs once.
