Jeanne d’Arc (Domrémy, Lorraine, ca. 1412 – Rouen, Normandy, May 30, 1431), nicknamed the Maiden of Orléans, is a national heroine of France. She was born during the French Civil War (1410-1435) and played a crucial role during the Hundred Years’ War between England and France (1337-1453).
