Description from the seller
Note of 2 Vintage Natural Jasper Bracelets – Picture Jasper and Crazy Lace Jasper Faceted – Unused Shipment
1. General Description
Interesting lot comprised of two vintage bracelets made with authentic natural minerals, selected for their strong visual personality and for representing two clearly differentiated styles within the world of ornamental jasper.
The first piece is made of Natural Picture Jasper, with wide plates and a highly geologic visual reading, dominated by earth tones, sand and mineral beige. The second is an elegant bracelet of Crazy Lace Jasper, with wavy bands and structures in tones of gray, cream, orange and red.
Both pieces come from an old unused shipment and form a particularly attractive set for a collection, aesthetic use, or daily combination.
2. Measurements and Weight
• Lot formed by 2 elastic bracelets
• Size adaptable to standard wrist
• Minerals with strong visual presence
• Solid and pleasant weight to the touch
• Comfortable and stable format
3. Mineralogical Identification
Bracelet 1:
Natural Picture Jasper (Picture Jasper)
Bracelet 2:
Faceted Crazy Lace Jasper (Crazy Lace Jasper / Agate)
Mineral group:
Microcrystalline quartz – chalcedony and jasper variety.
4. Chemical Formula
SiO₂ — Silicon Dioxide
Typical composition of jaspers and natural agates belonging to the cryptocrystalline quartz group.
5. Hardness and Density
Hardness:
6.5 – 7 on the Mohs scale
Approximate density:
2.58 – 2.64 g/cm³
Minerals sufficiently resistant for daily use and historically valued for their stability, hardness, and polishing ability.
6. Visual and Geological Reading
Picture Jasper stands out for its sedimentary structures and natural drawings that recall desert landscapes, geological strata, and mineral formations eroded over millions of years.
The faceted Crazy Lace presents very decorative natural bands and curves, with visual movement and chromatic depth. The facets create greater light reflection and provide a more dynamic and elegant appearance compared to a traditional cabochon.
Precisely this combination between a sober-mineral bracelet and a faceted-luminous one makes this lot a visually balanced and somewhat unusual proposal.
7. History and Mineral Context
Jaspers have been used since antiquity by numerous civilizations for ornamentation, amulets, and prestigious objects. Their resistance and enormous variety of natural patterns made them highly valued in both jewelry and ritual and decorative objects.
Crazy Lace is especially known for its complex drawings and almost pictorial appearance, while Picture Jasper has always been valued for its ability to “draw” natural scenes in the stone.
8. Craftsmanship and Design
Both bracelets showcase a classic artisanal cutting and polishing work, with carefully selected mineral plates.
The contrast between the two designs allows them to be worn together or separately depending on style and occasion.
9. Authenticity and Tests
The pieces have been visually inspected observing:
• Natural internal veins
• Consistent mineral structure
• Texture and polish compatible with genuine jasper
• Natural color variation
• Correct mineral weight and feel
There are currently numerous imitations made of resin, glass, or composite materials sold as “natural stone” on online platforms. Therefore it is important to differentiate authentic pieces from low-quality modern reproductions.
No gemological certificate is delivered, but rather a visual and mineralogical analysis of our own.
10. Condition and Conservation
• Excellent vintage condition
• Unused shipment
• Correct elasticity
• No visible cracks
• Very good overall preservation
The age of these shipments also adds value, as many antique pieces feature better materials and fewer modern treatments.
11. Probable Provenance
By type, cut, and assembly style, these likely correspond to artisanal mineral production from the late 20th century, very characteristic of vintage natural stone collections.
The combination of large formats and intense natural patterns is less common in today’s mass productions.
12. Market, Scarcity, and Investment
Authentic vintage jasper models with large plates and differentiated designs are increasingly rare in the market.
Authentic pieces, especially in vintage formats and with natural minerals of strong visual personality, are becoming scarcer, which reinforces collector interest and potential appreciation.
Furthermore, the mineralized faceted pieces from old shipments tend to have better presence and personality than many modern standardized productions.
Behind every mineral also lies the hard human work of extraction, selection, cutting, and polishing done by miners and skilled artisans.
13. Care and Conservation
Recommended:
• Avoid perfumes and harsh chemicals
• Do not store next to hard metals
• Clean only with a soft cloth
• Avoid strong impacts on hard surfaces
• Store separately to preserve polishing
With proper care, these pieces can remain in excellent condition for many years.
