Jacques Gautherin (1929-1997), an internationally renowned French artist quoted in Akoun (1400) and Bénezit was famous for his post-impressionist style landscapes, this portrait being one of the only two portraits known to have been painted by him, probably in his later days. His works have sold from a minimum of $475 to maximums of $12-13,000.
