Sometimes life doesn’t feel like a clear path, but like a movement between opposites – between closeness and distance, calm and departure, control and chaos. This very feeling is captured in this work.

The black lines resemble traces of thoughts, encounters, or decisions that cross, drift apart, and are found again. In between, the red accents create small impulses – memories, emotions, or moments that can suddenly change everything. Despite the apparent turmoil, a unique balance emerges, almost as if the painting breathes its own rhythm.

"The Direction Between" does not tell of a fixed goal, but of the space between beginning and arrival. Of the paths we cannot plan, which nonetheless shape us.

Christoph Prein is an Austrian artist known for his abstract and contemporary works, mainly created with acrylic paints. Originally from St. Margarethen near Knittelfeld, Prein’s pieces are often characterized by a minimalist, abstract style and are carefully crafted from high-quality materials to ensure vivid colors and longevity. In his art, he frequently engages themes such as identity, memory, and the exploration of human emotions, often pushing the boundaries between the visible and the invisible.

For a painting measuring 210 x 120 cm, a canvas should be stretched on a frame of 200 x 110 cm with a thickness of 2-4 cm.

You can then either simply stretch the canvas yourself or have it stretched by an artisan or gallery owner.

This is a handmade original, signed by the artist on the back and dated by year.

High-quality and lightfast acrylic paints were used on multiple white-grounded gallery canvas.

A varnish was applied to protect the work as well.
