Description from the seller
One bottle of Poderi Aldo Conterno Barolo Riserva Granbussia 2012 — one of the most iconic and collectible Riserva Barolos in existence, produced only in the finest vintages and released after a minimum of 9 years aging in the Conterno cellars.
Created in 1970 by the legendary Aldo Conterno — universally regarded as one of the greatest winemakers Barolo has ever known — Granbussia is the ultimate expression of the Bussia cru in Monforte d'Alba. A co-fermented blend of the three finest parcels of the estate: 70% Romirasco, 15% Cicala and 15% Colonnello — old vines on south-southwest facing calcareous marl soils at 400 metres. 30 days maceration in stainless steel, 33 months in 25-hectolitre Slavonian oak casks, followed by 5+ years in bottle before release. Production is limited to only 3,000 bottles per vintage.
As James Suckling wrote of the Granbussia: "So polished and gorgeous. So drinkable after nine years in the cellar of Aldo Conterno. Aromas of tar, asphalt and dark berries. Full-bodied, very focused and chewy with ultra fine tannins and a long and flavorful finish. Perfect harmony." The Wine Atlas of the Langhe describes it as "universally acknowledged as one of the finest interpretations of Barolo."
The 2012 is now at a perfect juncture — released after 9+ years in the Conterno cellar, it combines the power and structure of a great Monforte Nebbiolo with the silky, evolved complexity that only this wine can deliver at this stage of development.
Bottle in perfect condition — intact label and capsule, top fill level. Stored in a professional temperature-controlled cellar.
