Description from the seller

Set of six table-period match-sand ashtrays typical of the Seventies and Eighties. These small ashtrays were personal and served as place cards in an era when smoking was widespread, allowed even at the table.

Today, these ashtrays can be used to serve olives, peanuts, or other small dishes in grand style.

The ashtrays are as good as new and were produced in Italy in the Seventies by the manufacturer OLRI- Argenterie Greggio.

They suit their classic and refined design to any type of table, adding a touch of great class.

Plated in silver, with the “Olri” mark at the base.

Measurements 2x6.5x5 cm.

The first phase of strong company growth begins in the 1960s, when Greggio develops the cutlery collections and builds the company’s first building in Padua. In those years the commercial area expanded, which until then was limited to the northern Italy region, to cover the entire country. It was thus that in 1968, already rich in experience and years of expertise in silver production, Rino Greggio founded the Olri brand, today become Greggio Lega Argentata, the absolute leader in the production and distribution of high-thickness silver alloy objects for the home, the table, and other accessories. In particular, tableware items have professional traits and are therefore very functional, suitable for frequent use because they are treated for long durability.

Seller's Story

My name is Riccardo, I recently graduated in Art History from the University of Florence and I am passionate about porcelain. From tableware to artist vases, from figurines to tea and coffee sets, I am fascinated by the mastery and the ability of great artisans and designers who shape this so fragile material, turning a raw mass into masterpieces with a story to tell. During my years at university I became interested in the history of 19th- and 20th-century tableware art; today, every day, I work with prestigious porcelain pieces that always have something to say to me and to those who purchase them. Of my work I love that I can discover more about the objects I find as I travel around Italy, always learning something new. I always strive to convey to my clients this passion I have for the objects I sell, certain that each one of them has a story to tell: the story of who created it, the story of who preserved it, and the story of who will give it a new life.
