Description from the seller

Episcopal ciborium in gilded silver richly adorned with bezel-set amethyst cabochons, arranged on the lid, the knot, and the base. The interior cup is fully gilded in accordance with liturgical use. The domed lid is crowned by a trilobed Latin cross.

The knop (knot) and the foot repeat a rhythmical amethyst motif in polylobed engraved surrounds, evoking the episcopal symbolism of liturgical purple.

Under the foot is an engraved inscription mentioning “Monseigneur de Grammont,” indicating an episcopal destination.

Punsions/marks:
– Master goldsmith Edmond Lesage, Paris (lozenge EL)
– Minerve 1st title (950‰)

Height: 26 cm
Weight: 563 g

Very good overall condition, slight wear on the vermeil. Amethysts intact.

Parisian work of high quality, late 19th century.

The photos are an integral part of the item description and complement its presentation. Please examine them carefully before any commitment.

The object will be carefully packed and shipped with tracking number to ensure fast and secure delivery.
