Medieval Siegburg stoneware jug with salt glaze from the 15th century, in good condition, with Provenance from Germany and the Netherlands and acquired from a gallery/dealer in the Netherlands.

Medieval stoneware jug from Siegburg.
White ceramic pitcher. Globular form, cylindrical neck adorned with circular grooves, small ribboned handle, Large stoneware pitcher with beige salt glaze. The body is ornamented with parallel striations.
The base is scalloped with thumb-made marks.
Germany, town of Raeren, 15th century
Height 12.4 cm - Width 11.7 cm
Accompanied by an old label with handwritten inscription "Zuschlag Koln Mai 71 Siegburg 15jh" (purchase Cologne May 71 Siegburg 15th C.)
This vase is among the earliest European pieces glazed with a salt glaze.
Excellent condition - just a small chip at the neck
Provenance: Germany, Dr D.E.R. study
Previously: an important Dutch private collection of medieval and Renaissance ceramics formed between 1960 and 1980.
