Description from the seller
A beautiful and rare, 30-gram heavy solid silver tea strainer, produced by the renowned Koninklijke Gerritsen & van Kempen from Zeist, in 1935 one of the most prominent silver manufacturers in the Netherlands, based in Zeist, known for their high-quality silverware. The tea strainer features a fully solid silver spearhead-shaped handle/knobshaft that extends along two rectangular collar pieces and ends in an acorn-shaped knob. (Art Deco) Not only very decorative but also provided extra grip when held above a cup. Summary:
Rarity because it is entirely silver (no wooden or bone handle!)
Fully Silver Handle (thus not hollow inside; provides good balance when pouring)
Handle is therefore much more durable and has no risk of dents or cracks/breakage
Contains the master mark of Gerritsen & van Kempen (gVk with the V)
Contains silver hallmark Second grade silver (right-facing lion with tail up and the number 2 underneath)
Contains silver hallmark "A" = 1935 (with a thicker right leg of the "A")
Contains silver hallmark former Guarantee Office Minervakopje with the letter "F" in the helm (Leeuwarden)
Condition: The tea strainer is in very good, authentic condition with a beautiful natural shine. No dents or scratches.
Thus: A high-quality collector’s item for lovers of antique Dutch table silver or as a stylish addition to your own tableware!!
Dimensions from acorn tip on the handle to the far end of the strainer: 108 mm
Diameter of the front of the strainer: 64 mm
Diameter of the inner strainer part: 45 mm
Depth of the strainer part: 18 mm
