Rug - 415 cm - 100 cm - Mat - Beluch

This is an antique Baloch rug from Central Asia (also called Balouch, Balochi, Baluchi, Baluch or Beluchi). The rug originates from the Baluchistan region and features a rare and beautiful color palette and high-quality materials such as wool and dyes.

These carpets were woven by nomads of the Baloch tribes. The motifs of nature, animal figures, religious beliefs in Baluchi prayer rugs, and objects of interest and use by the tribe and village inhabitants are depicted in these designs. They are mostly geometric patterns with lines and surfaces that create abstract motifs.

The Mehrabi is a prayer rug drawn in the Balochi style and generally features a mihrab or an arch at one end of the rug. The material is typically wool or a wool-hair blend; more recent rugs have a cotton warp and sturdy wool pile.

Baloch rugs tend to be a dark combination of reds, browns and blues, with touches of white.
