Description from the seller

A0000003789

The Montblanc 642 fountain pen presented in this lot is in a very distinguished state of preservation, with an overall elegant appearance and well-preserved, typical of an instrument that has been cared for over time.

The gold-plated cap, with its characteristic vertical grooved finish, maintains a deep and uniform shine. The surface largely retains its original luster, showing only light micro-signs of surface wear, normal for a vintage piece, with no visible plating loss or notable dings. The clip is straight, firm, and properly aligned, maintaining its original tension.

The black resin body presents an equally very clean look, with a deep polish that reflects light well. Fine micro-scratches of use are observed, typical of the passage of time, but without cracks, deformations, or structural damage. The engravings of the model "642" and the brand "M" at the rear of the body remain sharp and perfectly legible.

The Montblanc emblem on the top of the cap is in very good condition, with clearly defined contours and no appreciable material loss.

The 14C gold nib, engraved with the classic mountain motif and the inscriptions "14C – Montblanc – 585," is visually in good condition, although the two-tone finish has worn. The tines are correctly aligned and the iridium point shows good integrity. The ebonite feed is clean and well preserved.

The pen has been serviced and tested, ensuring proper writing function.

Overall, it is a very well-preserved example, with an aesthetically attractive presence and with discreet wear signs consistent with its age.

Care recommendations

To preserve this piece in optimal condition, it is recommended to use high-quality inks formulated for fountain pens, avoid pigmented inks, clean the system with warm water if not used for a while, dry properly before storing, and keep it in a dry place, away from direct light and extreme temperatures. Always operate the filling system gently to extend the mechanism's life.

It will be sent in a courtesy box for proper preservation.

Happy bidding!
