Description from the seller
Rare set of 5 asparagus plates, Leon Sazerat Manufacture, Limoges, 1900
Detailed description
This service perfectly illustrates the refinement of table arts in the Belle Époque.
Each plate is distinguished by:
• Technical relief: Grooved asparagus ridges molded into the porcelain to cradle the vegetables and allow the sauce to drain.
• Delicate floral decoration: Bouquets of flowers finely executed in old pink tones and earth shadow, on bright white porcelain.
• Fluted border: An elegant contour typical of the 1900 style.
Marks and Authenticity:
• The back bears the green stamp "LS Limoges France", signature of the Leon Sazerat manufacture for this period.
• A second red mark "Quéhan Luchon" identifies the luxury retailer from the spa town of Bagnères-de-Luchon, adding a historical and regional dimension to the piece.
Technical specifications
• Manufacture: Leon Sazerat, Limoges
• Period: End of the 19th century – Early 20th century.
• Material: Limoges porcelain.
• Dimensions: Diameter 24.5 cm.
