A great large cast iron waffle iron with the waffle recipe on relief on top.
Found in France; they were made begin 1800s probably in Germany.
The clover-flower shaped baking plates and embossed capacity instructions are characteristic of traditional hearth and stove-top waffle irons used over open fire or coal stoves.
The waffle iron can rotate within the ring.
A beautiful decorative item for your kitchen. But of course it can also be used to make waffles.
Dimensions:
33,5 cm - maximum diameter outer ring (41 cm handle to handle)
Waffle iron with a diameter of 25 cm
6 cm - maximum height
App 7,65 Kg - weight
The embossed text reads:
“1 Kilo Mehl, 8½ Liter Milch
6–8 Eier, 375 Gr. Butter
1 Löffel Hefe.”
Translated:
“1 kilogram flour, 8½ liters milk
6–8 eggs, 375 grams butter
1 spoon yeast.”
Provenance: private collection
No cracks, chipping, dents or missing elements.
In an excellent pre-loved condition with a great aged patina.
