Shell cameo jewellery carved from a natural shell depicting a classical lady in a neoclassical style, an unmounted piece from Torre del Greco, Italy, weighing 3 g with dimensions 2.5 cm by 2 cm.
Description from the seller
A beautiful example of traditional Italian craftsmanship, this hand-carved shell cameo features a classical lady's profile in a neoclassical style. The fine detailing in the hair ringlets and the flowing drapery showcases excellent artisanal skill.
Material & Technique:
Carved from a natural shell, the piece beautifully utilizes the shell's natural layering, contrasting the crisp ivory-white high relief against a warm peach/salmon background. As an unmounted (loose) cameo, it is perfect for collectors or ready to be set into a custom piece of jewelry, such as a pendant or a brooch.
Condition:
In very good condition with no visible cracks or chips. The natural curvature of the shell is visible on the back, confirming its authenticity. (Please refer to the backlit photos for a detailed view of the carving depth and shell integrity).
