Tilting female statue - Dogon - Mali

Statue - Dogon - wood - Mali - 51 cm.

Elegant and expressive Dogon female statuette.
It has the peculiarity of being inclined with the head turned to the side.
The head is finely carved with diamond-shaped eyes, a spear-shaped nose and an open mouth.
The hairstyle ends in a point at the back.
Scarifications as well as a lip plate give the head a very particular appearance.
The body is angular and decorated, the limbs are long and thin, the feet oversized on a cylindrical base.
Very beautiful aspect of the wood which is heavy and light-colored.
Comes from the Bamba region.
