Polychrome decorated earthenware bowl by Luigi de Lerma, produced in the Netherlands in the 1930s–1940s; height 5.8 cm, top diameter 15 cm, depth 15 cm, weight 300 g, in excellent, barely used condition and signed.

A lovely bowl made by Luigi de Lerma in the 1930s-1940s, executed in polychrome-decorated earthenware, depicting a donkey with a flower.
This Italian artist settled in the Netherlands in 1934.
Luigi Eugenio Umberto Giovanni Maria de Lerma (1907-1965)
De Lerma was born in the Italian Reggio Emilia, worked in Groenekan and died in Utrecht. With his wife, Lady Sophie van der Does, he had a workshop in Groenekan. De Lerma produced fine ceramics, mosaics and wall paintings. In 1962 De Lerma received the Johan Kerkhoff Prize from the Utrechts Genootschap Kunstliefde.
His work can be found in several museums, including Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam and the Keramiekmuseum Princessehof in Leeuwarden.
Condition: the bowl is in excellent and undamaged condition.
