Description from the seller
Canadian Kodak No. 3A Autographic Kodak Model C Folding Camera - Anastigmat Objective 170mm in Ilex shutter - Excellent condition circa 1920
The Kodak 3-A was originally launched in 1903 with the Model A, followed by several variants: the B model (1903-4), the B2 (1904-6), the B3 (1906-8), the B4 (1908-9), the B5 (1909-12) and finally the Model C, from 1912 to 1915. In 1914 the Model C and the subsequent variants were equipped with autograph back series and marketed as Kodak 3-A Autographic.
The Kodak 3-A Model C was produced between 1912 and 1915, although after 1914 it was equipped with the Autographic back, which used a special film that allowed the user to write some details between the frames. This particular model was produced in the United States; maker's marks indicating it can be found under the bellows and on the back of the film. According to David Purcell, in his analysis of the Kodak 3A Folding Pocket Camera, in the United States the 3-A was equipped with a red bellows up to 1912, when the design was changed to use a black bellows. Also according to Purcell, the lowest serial number of the Model C is 266821. I assume this places my 3-A Model C around 1913/14. It is nonetheless a camera of 110 years in fairly working condition, which is remarkable.
