Description from the seller
Mid-Century Modern teak dog clothing brush – Laurids Lønborg style – Denmark – 1960s
Charming and highly collectible Mid-Century Modern clothing brush in the shape of a playful dog, crafted from solid teak. This iconic Scandinavian design object was designed in the characteristic style of Gunnar Flørning and is attributed to the Danish manufacturer Laurids Lønborg from the 1960s.
The design forms a beautiful example of the playful and functional approach for which Danish Modern became famous worldwide.
The expressive dog's head and the organically shaped body are finely crafted from solid teak with a warm, lively grain, while the thick black natural bristles subtly form the dog's tail.
In addition to its functional use as a clothing or table brush, the object possesses a strongly sculptural character. When the brush is not in use, the figurine stands upright on its own and simultaneously serves as a decorative design object within a Scandinavian, Japandi, or Mid-Century interior.
The combination of humor, craftsmanship and minimalist design makes this type of Danish teak object particularly popular today among collectors of Scandinavian Modern design

Dog: H 11 cm x W 4.5 cm x D 8.0 cm
Coasters: Ø 7.7 cm (6 pieces)
Total Weight: 197 grams
Condition:
Good vintage condition with normal light signs of use appropriate to age and use. The teak has developed a lovely warm patina. The painted eyes and snout are well preserved and the natural bristles are fully intact and firm. Please view the photos carefully for your own impression of the condition.
