Description from the seller

Although the company is firmly rooted in Central Hesse today, it has a eventful history:

Founding (1895): The company was originally founded in Berlin (Chausseestraße 8, Berlin-Mitte) by Alois Mager under the name “A. Mager Spezialfabrik Ophthalmologischer Instrumente.”
Name change (1932): The rebranding to “OCULUS GmbH” took place still at the Berlin site.
Move to Wetzlar (1947): After World War II, the company moved to Wetzlar, one of the most important centers of the German optics and precision mechanics industry.
The Oculus Aida is a classic vintage opera glass, today valued mainly as a collector’s item or a functional retro accessory. It originally comes from the German company Oculus, which today is primarily known for ophthalmic diagnostic devices.
