Description from the seller
Masonic seal in rock crystal, lapis lazuli, enamel and gilded metal – second half of the 19th century. Superb quality and magnificent details
Rare and prestigious freemason seal, composed of an egg cut from rock crystal set in a decorative mount in finely chiseled fine silver.
The shaft is dressed with lapis-lazuli panels with beveled facets, outlined by silver fillets.
The base is decorated with royal blue enamel with white dotted points, typical of symbolic ornamentation from the end of the 19th century.
The seal matrix, in patinated bronze, features a coded masonic composition, with stylized elements (levels, compass, column, stylized fleurs), engraved in relief.
The whole clearly evokes a personal ritual object, reserved for a high dignitary or a member of a rite workshop.
Dimensions:
Height: 13 cm x Base diameter: approx. 3 cm
Condition: Very good overall condition, a few micro-chips on the crystal, minor wear on the enamel. Old patina not cleaned.
