Born Olubenga Ugunnubi, Nubi is a painter from Nigeria who lives between Senegal and Benin. From a very young age, Nubi has had a strong interest in drawing and in art. Nubi (1977), also known as Olugbenga Ogunnubi, moved from graphic design to the visual arts, honing his craft with professional artists in Port Harcourt. His distinctive style combines natural tones with jute, acrylic, and mixed-media on canvas, creating expressive figurative compositions that evoke three-dimensionality. Rather than telling a story, Nubi's work captures the mood and beauty of everyday life scenes. Exhibiting since 1999, Nubi has presented his art in solo and group exhibitions in Nigeria, Senegal, Benin, the Netherlands, and France. His works are in prestigious collections, including those of General Diop in Dakar, King Mohammed VI of Morocco, Christian Adovelande in Lomé, and President Macky Sall of Senegal.
