Diese beeindruckende Silbermünze aus dem antiken Griechenland verbindet numismatische Geschichte mit der faszinierenden Welt der Olympischen Spiele der Antike.

Geprägt in der bedeutenden Stadt Aspendos in der Region Pamphylia, zählt dieser Stater (ca. 420–330 v. Chr.) zu den bekanntesten und begehrtesten Münztypen der griechischen Antike. Die Darstellung zweier ringender Athleten auf der Vorderseite verweist auf die Disziplin des Ringens („Pale“), eine der wichtigsten und prestigeträchtigsten Sportarten der antiken Olympischen Spiele.
