Fluorite is the mineral form of calcium fluoride and, throughout history, has been used by many peoples and cultures for the creation of artistic objects. Its impurities give it a wide variety of colors, a feature that, in medieval times, earned it the name stone flower. This mineral is famous for the effect called fluorescence, which bears its name. Some of its varieties, in fact, glow under UV light.
