Description from the seller
Splendid Table Service in French Crystal - Louis XVI Style (Baccarat/Saint-Louis)
Era: Early 20th century (Circa 1900-1920)
Material: Mouth-blown and hand-cut crystal of superior quality
Craft: Acid engraving with festoon decorations, floral garlands and neoclassical medallions
Description of the Work
Rare and imposing complete dinner service, expression of the utmost refinement of French crystal from the Belle Époque era. The set stands out for elaborate acid etching along the edge of each piece: an elegant interweaving of flowering garlands, ribbons and shield-shaped medallions, typical of the Louis XVI style.
Unlike versions with a "button" stem, this variant features a smooth, full-stem base, a design choice that lends the service an elongated, timeless elegance, emphasizing the extraordinary clarity of the crystal and the complexity of the incised decoration.
The service is composed of 6 different glass sizes, allowing an impeccably arranged mise en place that covers every need: from water to red and white wines, to dessert wines, liqueurs and the classic champagne coupe.
Set Composition (Total pieces: [Insert total number])
The service is exceptionally complete and includes:
4 Decanters/Carafes: Bulb shapes with slender neck, complete with original diamond-cut stoppers.
6 Series of Glasses (Differing Sizes):
6 Water Glasses: The largest and most majestic. 15.5 cm
6 Red Wine Glasses: Generous proportions. 14.8 cm
6 White Wine Glasses: Slightly smaller to maintain temperature. 12.5 cm
6 Champagne Flutes: Retro broad-topped shape. 11.5 cm
5 Dessert Wine/Port Glasses: Intermediate size. 10.5 cm
5 Cordial/Liqueur Glasses: Small and precious, ideal for after-dinner. 9 cm
Technical Details and Condition
Condition: in good vintage preservation.
Distinctive marks: Since these pieces were handmade before 1936, they do not bear acid signatures, ensuring authenticity of the historical period.
Stopper design: Diamond-cut stoppers individually ground to fit perfectly into the necks of the carafes.
