Set of four Ashanti Akan copper spoons for scooping gold dust, dating to the mid to late 19th century, origin Ghana (Gold Coast/Ivory Coast region), total weight about 19 g with sizes ranging from 6.9 to 9.2 cm in length and 0.6 to 2.3 cm wide.

FOUR Akan Ashanti Asante GOLD DUST SPOONS.
Old tribal spoons, used for scooping and weighing gold dust and gold grains.
Originating from Ghana, Gold Coast, Ivory Coast, West Africa.
Made of copper or copper plate.
Beautiful, well-worn tribal patina.
In good used condition.
Likely mid or late 19th century.
1. Spoon made of copper plate, with a wide handle.
Weighs 6.0 grams, length 6.9 cm, top width 2.3 cm, scoop diameter 2.1 cm.
2. Spoon with a hole in the top part.
Weighs 3.9 grams, length 8.8 cm, top width 0.8 cm, scoop diameter 2.1 cm.
3. Smallest spoon with stripes on the handle.
Weighs 2.7 grams, length 8.1 cm, top width 0.6 cm, beautifully engraved, scoop diameter 1.5 cm.
4. Spoon with crosses engraved on the handle.
Weighs 6.3 grams, length 9.2 cm, top width 0.9 cm, scoop diameter 2.3 cm.
