Originally intended for flies indoors, but the same principle as a wasp trap.
Sugary drinks were poured into the rim at the bottom and the lured insects search their way inside through the opening at the bottom of the bottle.
Once in the bottle they drown; flies buzz around until they give up, because they can’t find their way to escape via the bottom opening.
