All automatic watches on first use require charging from the crown as wrist movement alone is not sufficient to maintain the required power reserve.

RULE FOR ALL WATCHES WITH DATE
To avoid possible damage to the movement, please do not set the date using the crown when the watch time is between 21:00 and 03:00. It is recommended to set the date when the time is between 03:05 and 20:55 (Some models have a screw-down crown; for settings, gently unscrew the crown counterclockwise. Remember to reseal the crown properly after setting desired adjustments.)
