Description from the seller
For sale is a rare gem for collectors and lovers of analog photography: a Balda Gloria medium-format folding camera (6x9 format on 120 roll film) from the renowned Balda workshops in Dresden, manufactured around 1934.
This model impresses with a rare and today highly sought-after combination among photographers: shutter and lens.
Maker: Balda-Werk Dresden
Model: Gloria (ca. 1934)
Lens: Meyer Görlitz Trioplan 1:3,8 / f=10,5 cm (Serial no. 616613). The legendary Trioplan is known for its unique, painterly “soap-bubble” bokeh and is especially coveted in the bright, wide-open 3.8 version.
Shutter: F. Deckel-München IBSOR ( speeds: 1 to 1/250 s, as well as T and B)
Shutter: The IBSOR shutter runs cleanly, smoothly, and, by ear, absolutely plausibly even at the critical long times (1 second and 1/2 second). No varnish buildup, no sticking.
Optics & Aperture: The lenses of the Meyer-Görlitz Trioplan are in good condition for their age. The aperture can be easily adjusted from f/3.8 to f/22.
Body & Bellows: The leather bellows show the typical signs of age and creasing, but are visually intact.
