Description from the seller

A square, flared cup in Chinese porcelain for wine or tea, decorated in the Qianjiang Cai (literary painting) style.

The scenes painted on two sides depict various figures from classical tradition, including scholars and children.

Manufacture dating to the late Qing Dynasty (19th century) or the subsequent Republic period (1912-1949).

An analysis of the calligraphy and seals suggests a plausible attribution to the painter Yu Xinmin, a master active in Jingdezhen.
