Description from the seller

Wellner serving plate. One of the most famous and historic German manufacturers of cutlery and metal tableware.

Founded in 1854 in Aue, Saxony, the company became famous worldwide for supplying tableware and large serving trays intended for luxury hotels, fine dining restaurants, and transatlantic liners of the early 1900s.

This specific piece possesses the hallmark characteristics of the brand:
Material of distinction: The historic Wellner trays of this type are not made of ordinary steel, but of Alpacca (a robust alloy of copper, nickel, and zinc) with a heavy electrogalvanic silver plating (often indicated by the stamps Alpacca Silber or Alpacca schwerversilbert).
Use: The monumental length of about 71-72 centimeters identifies it as a professional banquet serving tray, historically used for formal service of whole fish (such as large salmon) or for important cuts of meat.
Authentication: On the reverse there is the Wellner mark and the EK 8 punch.
