A magnificent antique silver toothpick holder (paliteiro), a highly decorative and sculptural piece typical of the finest silverware traditions. The piece rests on a heavy tripartite base, richly adorned with hand-chased embossed floral motifs and a beaded rim. Standing atop the base is a finely detailed, three-dimensional figure of a young Cupid (Putto), holding aloft in his left hand a perforated oval receptacle (shaped like a pinecone or flower bud with leaves at the base), specifically designed to hold toothpicks. Condition: Excellent vintage condition with a beautiful natural patina and superb luster. The sculptural details remain crisp and well-defined. No structural dents or visible repairs.
