Kleppingsgang Dortmund, an original 1950–1960 oil painting by Belgian artist P. Bosmans (XX), a cityscape of Dortmund, signed and sold with a vintage carved gold frame.
Description from the seller
An original 20th-century oil painting by the Belgian artist P. Bosmans. The artist's signature appears in the lower right corner. The painting depicts the historic Kleppingsgang alley in Dortmund, Germany. The canvas captures the historic appearance of Dortmund, with its characteristic half-timbered and brick houses with steep red roofs. Much of this historic architecture in the city's central districts was irrevocably destroyed during the bombings of World War II, making the painting a valuable artistic testimony to a bygone era. The work is executed in the artist's classic style—dense, textured brushstrokes of oil paint in a restrained earthy palette with deep contrasts of light and shadow. The artist's original signature appears in the lower right corner. The painting is framed in a massive vintage carved gold-colored baguette frame, typical of the mid-20th century.
