Medsan’s 40 × 40 cm giclée Irezumi Neon Hair Dryer (刺青ネオンドライヤー) – Hand Signed, edition of 1, created in 2026 in France, in excellent condition and sold direct from the artist.
Description from the seller
With this square-format work, Medsan leads us into an anachronistic and surprising mashup, blending the power of Japanese tradition with the lightness of contemporary pop culture. This splash features a robust man, bare-chested, seated in a meditation pose on a tatami, his body entirely covered in traditional, intricate dragon tattoos (irezumi) winding across his chest, abdomen and arms, underscoring his strength and cultural anchoring.
The visual shock and the humor of the composition lie in the central object. If his thick, long hair is dynamically swept by an air flow, it is not the wind from the waves in the background that stirs it, but a modern, flamboyant hairdryer, entirely drawn in neon pink glow, firmly held in his right hand. The tool, with its cord visible, creates a striking contrast with the ancient irezumi motifs and the stylized Japanese waves that coil behind him.
The impact of the composition is masterfully highlighted by a deep, solid turquoise background, which makes the neon pink pop and the wave crests glow in pinkish hues. The bold linework and flat colors scrupulously respect the codes of ukiyo-e prints while infusing them with a pop-art vitality. The traditional vertical cartouche at the top right, housing the artist’s signature in katakana (メドサン), perfects this fusion of eras.
A conceptual piece, at once aesthetic, humorous and intellectual, ideal for adding a pop, graphic and deeply quirky touch to a design-oriented, contemporary interior.

About the Studio:
Atelier Joconde is a collective of artists united around a living, plural contemporary creation. Established as a true hub of artistic production, the studio operates both in collective creation and in individual approaches, depending on the projects and works. Atelier Joconde is also a family venture. Le Yack, a contemporary figurative painter, develops a narrative, introspective body of work with cinematic and realistic influences. Beside him, Medsan, oriented toward pop art painting, explores color, modern iconography and visual culture. Finally, Neo Pablo engages in a more instinctive search, blending abstract art, art brut, and figurative abstraction. Each work is conceived, produced and supervised within the studio, with a shared artistic standard and an identity unique to each artist.
