HISTORY/DOCUMENTATION:

This unique Triumph TR6 has a special history and rare specifications. Unlike many examples, this one was not delivered to the United States, but to its home country Great Britain. On 18 March 1974 the car was new delivered to a British soldier. By 1977 the car had been imported to the Netherlands, where it remained in the same owner’s possession until 2025. That’s a total of 48 years!

What is also remarkable is that the first owner at the time did not opt for Overdrive, but for a limited-slip differential. This is a desirable upgrade that improves handling. The 2.5-liter six-cylinder engine also features a smooth injection system. It is moreover an unrestored and very hard car. Recently, substantial investments have been made in the car both technically and aesthetically.

The Triumph comes with a folder full of documentation including manuals, maintenance invoices, registration papers and even the original tools. Two sets of keys are also present. In 2026 the TR6 was valued at €34,000 and was verified as “a car in very good condition with normal signs of use.”

EXTERIOR:

A true head-turner: the stunning lines of the Triumph TR6 come into their own in the beautiful color “Saffron Yellow.” The stylish alloy wheels, sourced from a Lotus Europa, give the car extra character. These wheels have been under the car since import to the Netherlands in 1977. Recently they have been fully renovated and fitted with five new Vredestein Sprint Classic tires, worth about €2,000.

The complete wheel set is thus almost like new. In addition, new bumpers have been fitted and the headlights, lighting, indicators and city lights have been renewed. The rare white front indicators give this TR6 an extra distinctive detail. The door seals have also been replaced and in 2025 a new soft top was installed, made of high-quality mohair fabric.

At the rear there is also a practical and stylish boot rack fitted. The paint shows only normal signs of use and is free of noteworthy damage or dents. Both the chrome work and lighting are in tidy and well-kept condition.

INTERIOR:

The interior of the Triumph TR6 is well-kept and largely renewed. Immediately noticeable are the beautiful brown leather seats, in very good condition. The dashboard is elegantly finished with figured wood and is also in excellent condition, with no notable damage.

The door panels are also upholstered in brown leather, giving the interior a warm and luxurious feel. The original Smiths instruments function correctly; the odometer and tachometer have been professionally refurbished, with the odometer additionally calibrated.

The car is equipped with the originally supplied optional heater, and also features a radio player and various practical upgrades, including seatbelts, a safety switch for the fuel pump, new carpets, a new leather shift-boot cover, renewed window channels and a USB connection. A wooden sports steering wheel is mounted; the original steering wheel is present with the car.

The luggage compartment also makes a neat impression. Under the double floor there is room for the spare wheel and the boot lining has been renewed. The original tools, including the original jack, are still present as well.

TECHNICAL:

Technically, this Triumph TR6 has also been thoroughly maintained and the last years have seen extensive work. In 2025 nearly €4,000 of major maintenance was carried out. This included renewing the water hoses, front brake pads, main and helper clutch cylinders, clutch, heater tap and gearbox mount.

In addition, in April 2026 more than €1,000 was invested in, among other things, a new fuel hose and filter, a new filter housing and various hose connections. The water pump, thermostat and air filter have also recently been replaced. Furthermore, the twin horn and windshield washer were renewed.

The petrol tank has been professionally renovated, primed and finished with a durable 2K coating. The chassis presents as solid and undamaged and shows, as far as visible, no welding. Photos of the underside are included in the photo report. In addition, the car is equipped with an oil cooler and adjustable shock absorbers.

PI stands for Petrol Injection and means that the engine uses no carburetors, but a mechanical injection system (Lucas injection) that feeds fuel under pressure directly to the cylinders. The more powerful, direct and sportier injection version of the Triumph TR6 is loved for its character and performance.

In terms of driving, this TR6 is convincing: starting, shifting and braking operate smoothly and as expected. The driving feel is particularly pleasant thanks to the limited-slip differential, which was rebuilt in 2024. This differential provides better traction, less wheel spin and more stability in corners, especially on wet roads or during spirited driving.

The power is thus distributed more effectively to both rear wheels, resulting in a predictable and confident driving experience. Therefore, the limited-slip differential is a beloved upgrade among TR6 enthusiasts, especially in combination with an upgraded suspension or extra engine power.

GENERAL:

The Triumph TR6 is a sports car produced by the British manufacturer Triumph from 1968 to 1976. It followed the Triumph TR5 and was produced as a convertible with a folding roof. The TR6 was a popular car due to its sporty look, good performance and relatively affordable price. The car was powered by a 2.5-liter six-cylinder engine.

The TR6 was also one of the first cars to come standard with disc brakes on all four wheels. In total, more than 94,000 examples of the TR6 were produced, making it one of the best-selling Triumph models ever. Today the TR6 remains a popular car among collectors and classic car enthusiasts.
