This is an antique Victorian stereographoscope from the late 19th century. Function: This device was used for viewing photographs and stereographs (which create a 3D effect) and also served as a large magnifying glass to better see details in images. Design: It is made of wood (often mahogany or walnut) and brass, and features an adjustable platform that folds up for compact storage. Origin: Such viewers were commonly made in England by manufacturers such as Negretti & Zambra and were popular in the households of the prosperous middle class. Dimensions are 28 cm x 15 cm.
