Description from the seller

A Roman Bronze Statuette of a Standing Woman, 1st to 3rd Century A.D.

Elegant and finely detailed Roman bronze figurine measuring 5.3 cm in height. The figure depicts a standing woman wearing a draped garment (chiton and himation) that elegantly clings to her body, with one hand resting on her hip and the other holding the folds of her dress. She has a serene, idealized face with delicate features and a hairstyle or headdress typical of the period. The piece displays a beautiful dark, almost black patina with subtle metallic highlights.
Small bronze statuettes like this were very popular in the Roman Empire, representing goddesses (such as Venus/Aphrodite), priestesses, or elegant ladies. They were used as votive offerings, domestic decorations, or personal amulets.

Material: Bronze
Height: 5.3 cm

Provenance:
Acquired in Germany from a German private collection, formed in the 1980s.
