Description from the seller
Pink-fluorescent barite with galena on matrix from Mibladen, Morocco
Object type: Rough crystal
Mineral species: Barite and galena
Origin/Locality: Les Dalles Mine, Mibladen, Morocco
Dimensions: 25 cm x 9 cm x 3.5 cm
Weight: 435 grams
Condition: Excellent
This extraordinary specimen of barite with galena from the classic Les Dalles Mine in Mibladen, Morocco, shows a fascinating series of tabular crystals that evoke the form of crests or rosettes. The main coloration is a translucent pearly white.
The piece features galena formation typical of the Mibladen mining district; the galena crystals stand out with a metallic lead-gray color, almost silvery.
Crystal-technical notes: This specimen displays the flat, thin crystal habit (tabular), characteristic of barite. The crystals cover the matrix diffusely but orderly; the growth is so dense as to form a solid column of intergrown crystals. Looking closely at the top, the surface of the galena shows faint bluish/purplish tints. This is due to a very thin veil of surface alteration (oxidation) that creates an iridescent effect, highly valued by collectors.
Unique features: What makes this piece particularly special is its remarkable reactivity to ultraviolet light, a hidden characteristic that embellishes this barite. Observed under a UV lamp, the crested crystals' whiteness transforms radically, naturally lighting up with a vibrant pink fluorescence and offering an unexpected and dynamic visual experience.
The Mibladen mining district is renowned for producing some of the most fascinating and classic barite-galena associations in the world, making this specimen, with its captivating color secret, highly desirable to collectors.
Metaphysical properties: Barite is often associated with inner harmony, intuition, and connection with one’s higher self. Thanks to its notable specific gravity, it is believed to act as a strong grounding stone, capable of anchoring high spiritual energies into the physical body, promoting a sense of security and emotional stability. Many use it to facilitate the release of old fears or limiting mental patterns, encouraging independence and clear communication.
Defects: No defects, breaks, or repairs are present.
Accompanied by: This specimen is accompanied by a small handwritten label indicating the locality (Les Dalles Mine, Mibladen, Morocco).
