Description from the seller
Pair of Chinese porcelain lidded pots with festival decor – Qing Dynasty, late 19th century
Decorative pair of Chinese porcelain lidded pots painted in polychrome enamel colors with a lively festival and procession scene. The decoration shows elegantly dressed figures, children, musicians and mythological animals in a festive procession in a garden landscape.
The pots are executed in a refined palette of green, pink, iron red and black on white porcelain. The decoration continues over the curved lids, crowned with a small knop. The playful and colorful decoration is typical of Chinese export porcelain from the late Qing Dynasty.
Such small lidded pots were used for tea, spices, cosmetics or other precious contents and today form attractive collectibles and decorative cabinet pieces.
