Description from the seller

2 antique lensmeters / focimeters – American Optical & Bausch & Lomb
A unique set of two vintage optical measuring instruments from the mid-20th century. These lensmeters (also known as focimeters) were used by opticians and ophthalmologists to determine the exact strength of eyeglass lenses.

1. Classic Model (Black/Iron Cast):
Type: Probably American Optical (AO) Model 603.
Features: Robust cast-iron frame with adjustable eyepiece and original wiring for illumination.
Condition: Beautiful authentic patina. An ideal restoration project or as a striking decorative piece in an interior or optical shop.

2. Modern Vintage Model White
Type: Compact model, design consistent with the Bausch & Lomb Vertometer from the 1950s/60s.
Features: Equipped with original plug and stable base. Slender design compared to its predecessor.
Condition: In neat vintage condition with light signs of use appropriate for its age.
Specifications:
Material: Metal, glass, Bakelite.

Function: Untested (sold as collectibles/decorative objects).
Extra: A unique opportunity to acquire two different generations of optical precision engineering in one purchase.

Seller's Story

If something moves me, I buy it. It’s that simple, really. Since 2008 I scour here and abroad, always looking for that one object with a soul. Whether it’s an ancient antique piece or modern design: if it radiates craftsmanship and character, I’m hooked. I enjoy giving these finds a new home. Take a look around, and I hope my passion for quality touches you as well.
