Description from the seller

THE HIT is a 70 x 100 cm painting by Flavia Delgado that captures the intensity, elegance, and precision of the sports moment made into an iconic image.

The female figure appears frozen in full motion, focused solely on reaching the ball. The bodily gesture conveys tension, balance, and determination, while the simplified composition and vibrant colors transform the scene into a true contemporary pop poster.

The contrast between the electric blue of the background and the deep red of the court creates immediate visual energy. The artist eliminates all superfluous elements to center attention on the movement, the posture, and the exact connection between body and action.

THE HIT speaks not only of tennis; it speaks of focus, reaction, and mental strength. The moment depicted is brief and almost invisible in real time, but here it is halted as a symbol of absolute concentration.

The work engages in dialogue with the graphic aesthetics of old sports and advertising posters, reinterpreted through a modern, clean, and elegant language. Flavia Delgado thus turns an athletic scene into a stylized and powerful image, where sport takes on a nearly cinematic dimension.

The combination of femininity, dynamism, and visual design gives the painting a sophisticated, contemporary presence, capable of conveying movement even from the stillness of the canvas.

A fresh, energetic, and visually striking piece where sport becomes an artistic gesture.

Seller's Story

I present a pictorial work line strongly linked to illustration and artistic poster design. My works combine the language of classic poster art with the plastic freedom of contemporary painting: flat colors, defined contours, direct scenes, and a clear narrative sense. My work dialogues with the tradition of 20th-century poster art, especially with the universe of Art Deco and European and North American advertising posters, where authors like A. M.. Cassandre, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, and Leonetto Cappiello used synthetic imagery and color for visual impact. There are also affinities with European comic graphics and the clear line, from Hergé to modern editorial illustration. In my paintings, I depict interiors, architectures, figures, and travel scenes—such as roads, vintage cars, or landscapes—approached from a graphic perspective reminiscent of posters and illustrated books, but transferred to the realm of painting on paper and canvas. I aim for each image to function like a frame or a narrative poster, capable of suggesting a broader story without needing to explain it.
