Antique Equal-arm Balance in Copper, Brass – Pharmacy / Goldsmith’s Scale from the late 19th to early 20th century
Lot description
Splendid and rare antique equal-arm balance (precision scale), originally used in ancient pharmacies, chemical laboratories or jewelry shops for precise weighing.
The object stands out for a fascinating bi-metallic structure and a slender column design, perfect as a vintage furnishing piece, collectible item, or decorative element for professional studios and historic homes.
Features and Details:
Materials: Lower supporting column in copper/brass with a beautiful dark patina of time; upper shaft and pans in brass; horizontal yoke in sturdy metal. Conical base resting on copper.
Suspension: The two original concave pans are supported by delicate wire arms skillfully twisted.
Conditions: Excellent general vintage condition. It displays a magnificent original patina and minimal signs of time that attest to its authenticity and enhance its charm (it has not been artificially polished to preserve its history).
